The New Meanings of Education

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to reflect about the changes that have been occurring in current societies, in particular, regarding the concepts in educators’ thinking as an encounter between theory and practice in social reality at institutions of higher learning. The research is of a documentary type, since it consists of the search for, recovery, analysis, criticism and interpretation of secondary data obtained by other researchers. Findings indicate that dilemmas and conflicts still exist in educators in confronting the new meanings of education called for by current societies. There is a need to develop and promote the communicative action model to orient practices toward the new paradigm demanded by the planetary era, marked by principles of liberty, tolerance, justice, the search for truth and relations that are symmetrical and of mutual respect.
