Main Article Content
Abstract
Recognition of the equality between women and men, a basic principle of human dignity, is institutionalized through human rights declarations and a broad range of legal instruments, without being accompanied to date by the existence of social practices and cultural ideologies necessary to eradicate acts of sexist discrimination and gender-based violence. Law, the protagonist in this history, sometimes functions as the primary control medium for the patriarchal system.
